Section 5:  Q-niverse

Part 6:  Wilykat and Jayna; MegaMan X

First and Only Division

Thirtieth Chapter

Characters:  Thunder Cats, Remaining SuperFriends, People of the Enterprise

            July 13.

Darkwing Duck's Restaurant, on Darkwing Duck's Earth.

Getting up, Wilykat said, "Good evening."  He was rather nervous.

Just as nervous, Jayna said, "Hello.  You may release me now, big bro."  Zan let her hand go.

"I guess you want to be alone with her, right?" asked Wilykit.

"Yes, please," said Wilykat.  Wilykit got up.

"No problem, bro."  Wilykit tapped her communicator.  "I've other things to do.  N-Team Transporter, transport one to the Main Ready-Room. . ."  She grabbed the lap-top by the handle.  ". . .of the Enterprise."  She and it were transported there.

"I must be going," said Zan.  "Batman still desires my assistance.  Or at least my attendance."

"Okay," said Jayna.  Zan went to the centre table.  "I hope you're not mad at me or anything, Wilykat."

"No," said Wilykat.  "Just awfully darned surprised.  I can't get over believing that Amore Eternamente is purely Thunderian.  It can be shared between a Thunderian female and a male of probably any humanoid race.  I don't know about the reverse."  He indicated a chair.  "Please pardon me.  Would you like to have a seat?"

"Thanks," said Jayna.  She sat in the chair, and Wilykat pushed the chair in like a gentleman.  "Thank you."

"You're welcome," said Wilykat, reseating himself in his chair.  Wilykat began to feel attracted to her, but he also felt some nervousness from her.  Softly he asked, "What's wrong?"

"I don't know," said Jayna.  "I guess I feel I have to 'walk on eggshells around you,' so to speak.  I want to be careful not to offend you."

"You're trying way too hard.  I'm extremely tolerant.  My temper is slow most of the time.  Stronger tempers do, however, tend to contain stronger fury.

"Anyway, don't 'walk on eggshells around me,' please.  You have no reason to be tense around me."

"Well," said Jayna, relieved, "thank you, Wilykat.  "Are you in love with me?"

"A moment, please," said Wilykat.  It was a hard decision now.  He suddenly realised how attracted he had become to her in the last few minutes.  Still, he could not be too committal, as he was not completely certain.  "I don't know, Jayna.  I'm attracted to you, but I'm not sure."

"That's okay, Wilykat.  I hate it when guys are too aggressive; that seems to be a common human male trait."

"That's not true of all human males, you know."

"Yeah, I know that.  The way human male adolescents can act, though, tends to make one wonder."

"From some observation, I know what you mean," said Wilykat.  "I was glad to find out that Wesley would not try to be too aggressive toward Wilykit.  They share the state of Amore Eternamente, the Thunderian state keeping them bonded forever."

"I see," said Jayna.  "What can we do other than just sit here and talk?"

"I don't know.  Oh!  Would you like to go to see Hyrule?"

"Sure!  I love Hyrule!  When can we go there?"

"We can go there right now, if you'd like," said Wilykat.

            "Really?"

"Sure.  Just an order for the transporter, and we'll be in the Kingdom of Hyrule."

"I see," said Jayna.  "May we go now?"

"Of course."  They got up.  "Want to tell your brother where you and I are going?  I get worried sick when Wilykit goes off without having told me where she was going."

"All right.  Back in a moment."  She went over to Zan.

            * * *

            Main Ready-Room, Enterprise.

"Wes," said Wilykit, "what's going to happen?"

Wesley said, "I wish I knew, 'Kit.  Those Borg are difficult enemies."

"Then," said Wilykit, "there're the Cardassians and that Brain-Team."

"Yes.  Neither will give up easily."

"That's an understatement.  We will need all the help we can get."  She lowered her voice.  "So, Wes, what's this about your next plane of existence?"  Wesley sighed.  He had hoped he had buried this so deep that no one could find it, but Wilykit found it.

"It's a bit complex to explain, sweetheart," said Wesley.  He felt Wilykit learning the information by reading his mind.  "You see."

            "I see."

"I set up this plane of my existence to duplicate the part of the first plane I lived in in almost exact detail," said Wesley.  "Up to the Kolvoord Incident, that is."

Wilykit had a sudden fear.  It infested her before she could do anything about it.  "Wes, I still need you.  If you ever try to use this as a reason to leave me,. . ."

"Don't worry, Wilykit," Wesley told her quickly.  "I love you.  I need you as much as you need me."  As he hugged her tightly, she regained her composure.  "I think I made a horrible mistake in the process of preparing this plane, Wilykit."

Wilykit softly asked, "What kind of mistake?"

"Some, in fact."  He slowly released her.  "When one is cloning, key genetic materials may get messed up, right?"

            "Yes, that's possible," said Wilykit.

"Well, I made some intentional changes in duplicating my first plane of existence on this one.  If that was all that happened, this would have been nearly perfect.  However, not even Father Nature is perfect."  Wilykit could not resist smiling.  "You won't be smiling after hearing about the types of mistakes I've made, 'Kit."

"I'll still love you," said Wilykit.

"Probably the stupidest was keeping Q," said Wesley nonchalantly.  Wilykit was barely able to resist laughing.  "That did have to be done, though.  My worst errors happened when I made the changes.  The errors were unintentional, Wilykit, I swear it, but I was too stupid to notice them."  He began to relate his errors to her.

North-Western Corner of Kakariko Village, Kingdom of Hyrule, Planet Hyrule, VideoLand.

"I wish you'd brought me here in the daytime," said Jayna.

"Well, you didn't tell me when you wanted to come," said Wilykat.  "Besides, you can trust me.  In fact, I'll protect you if need be."  For some reason, Jayna calmed down tremendously.  "C'mon.  About a third of Hyrule's population is active nocturnally.  It's been like that since Link defeated Ganon a few years ago."  They entered the village's limits.  The town was rather busy.  "Heh!  What'd I tell you?"

            "This is great, 'Kat."

"Twenty-seven people are speaking German, twenty-five English, and twelve Portuguese."

"How are you sure?" asked Jayna.

"My ears pick up much more at a greater distance than most other people's ears, except Wilykit's and Lynx-O's."

            "You know German, right?"

"Not really.  It's Wesley Crusher who has learned it, but Wilykit and I can use and understand it well because of our telepathic connections."

Jayna said, "I see."  She was really impressed.  "Um, Wilykat, though they may be weaker than other races, Exorians are generally not impressed by this stuff that members of stronger races do, and it takes a lot more to impress me than what can impress most other Exorians.  Because of that, don't take lightly the fact that you have impressed me a lot since I have become acquainted with you."  Wilykat was touched by her direct honesty.  He could also feel himself falling in love with her.  He reflected that falling in love was not falling at all; it caused his spirit to soar higher than he had ever felt it do before.

"Well, thanks, Jayna.  I really appreciate that.  I am falling in love with you."

            She smiled.  "Are you really?"

"Yes."  They went out of everyone's viewing range.

"Oh, Wilykat, I'm so happy to hear that.  Do you want us to kiss each other?  I do."

"Oh. . . I don't know.  I mean, of course I want to do it, but should we do it?"  Jayna put her right hand on his left shoulder and her left on his right softly.

            "Why shouldn't we?"

Wilykat said, "Well, ah. . . I don't know.  Maybe because I've never kissed before. . . except for kissing Wilykit on the cheek."

"I'm glad, 'Kat.  Robin and I did it before Zan and I returned to Exor 'to stay,' so to speak.  Didn't stay too long, though, did we?"

"I see."  Wilykat checked himself mentally.  He really had fallen in love with her more deeply than he originally thought.  He was also very nervous.  "I just don't know how to kiss, Jayna."

"You don't need to," said Jayna.  "You just do it."

            "It's that simple?"

"Yes.  You are as silly as your sister said."  Wilykat frowned slightly.

"Why, that cute, cunning little rascal," said Wilykat.  "I'll tickle the daylights out of that sister of mine."  Jayna was amused.

"You and I are in similar boats," said Jayna, beginning to caress the sides of Wilykat's neck with her thumbs.  It felt good, even though she was wearing her gloves.  "I'm sort of silly in the same manner as you.  Also, Zan and I tend to annoy each other a lot."

"Mm-hm.  I know how that feels.  'Kit and I tend to sort of be like that.  Oh, Jaga, that feels good."  They stared into one another's eyes for a few moments.  Then, they slowly brought their lips together and kissed.  Jayna's left hand went onto the back of Wilykat's neck, and Wilykat's right hand went onto the top of her right arm where it joined her body.  Their lips stayed together for precisely five seconds.  Then, they stared into each other's eyes, a smile - gentle and sweet - forming on Wilykat's face.  Jayna realised that Thunderian males were not aggressive. . . well, not nearly so aggressive as human males.  "That felt very good, Jayna.  Thank you."

"No problem for you, 'Kat.  You've been so sweet to me so far."

"Thank you, Jayna.  That's free, however."

"So was the kiss, you cute li'l nut!"  The two hugged each other tightly.  "Oh, Wilykat, you're so strong. . . deceptively."

"You are, too."  They gently released each other.

"Now, could you show me Hyrule, please?  It's been some time since I was last here."

"Yes, ma'am!" said Wilykat.  Like a gentleman, he offered her his right arm in an escorting fashion.  Like a lady, she accepted, looping her left arm through his right arm.  "Let's go!"  They went to the town's central area.

Day or night, Hyrule was a major attraction for tourists, either native to VideoLand or foreign to its borders.  Hyrule's attraction to tourists was both its natural beauty and its ancient architecture created by the Hylians.  The latter attraction had been fully restored after Ganon's attempt to put Princess Zelda in a sleeping spell forever and to conquer the Kingdom of Hyrule had been thwarted by Link.  Hyrule's borders had then expanded by order of the Kingdom of VideoLand to encompass the whole planet on which the Kingdom of Hyrule rested, making the entire globe the Hyrulian Empire and the Kingdom of Hyrule the planet's centre of government.  Only the Greco-Roman architecture of the Kingdom of Mount Icarus rivalled the Hylian architecture of the Kingdom of Hyrule.  "What do you think of the village, my dear?"

"I like it.  You have telepathy, don't you?  Can you read my mind?"

"Yes, I have it, and yes, I can read your mind.  However, you must permit me to do it before I may do it.  Do you permit me to read your mind?"

"I know that I can trust you, Wilykat," said Jayna.  She knew she could trust him.  The only other persons whom she knew she could trust were Zan, Robin, and Batman.  Her parents had been killed by the Cardassians.

"You must also know to be able to trust Wilykit, Wesley, and Dr. Crusher, Jayna," Wilykat warned.  "There is a nonopenable, alternate-circuit-like telepathic link between us.  I personally give my 100% assurance that you can trust each and every one of them as much as you can trust me, though, Jayna."  She knew he would not be telling her that if he did not mean it.

"I believe you, Wilykat.  I've spent the last seven years dissecting every puny detail of what non-Exorians have told me and every detail of how they told me that, trying to find the puniest little scrap of deception.  I've gotten so efficient, quick, and involuntary with it that it's hard not to do it when I'm with someone I know I can trust, even if that person is Exorian.  For some reason, you go right through my 'deception-warning-sensors' like you're not even there.  There's just so much truth in what you say and how you say it."  Wilykat was just so touched by what she had told him.  He knew her words to be true.  The amount of confidence she had in him was so overwhelming.  He felt she needed him, and he knew he could not let her down.

"I can't thank you enough for that comment, Jayna.  Am I allowed to read your mind now?"

"Well, how do you do it?"

"I simply pay attention to your thoughts, and I can enter your mind.  No physical action is needed at all."

"Hm.  Can we go north and toward the castle?"

"Sure."  They changed their course to the easternmost road in the village and started north on it to go out of the village.  "Something wrong, sweetheart?"

Jayna said, "No.  I was merely hoping  that - "  She stopped.

" - that we needed some kind of physical action for me to read your mind?" Wilykat asked in a low voice.

"Something like that," she admitted, removing the glove from her right hand.  She felt his left hand go on her right hand.

"Physical contact does make it slightly easier," Wilykat said.  Within one second, he had absorbed all of her knowledge of foreign languages.  "Oh. . . so Exor has its own English-like language."

"Wait a minute.  Exactly how long did it take you to read my mind?"

"Just a second.  Most of what I read was the part dealing with foreign languages, anyway.  Such organisation is very useful, Jayna.  And I see you know about the Chemistrians."

"Yes, I do," said Jayna.  They had just exited the village, so they turned to follow the road to the east.  "VideoLand and Exor decided to decree the unexplored region of VideoLand unexplored seven years ago.  That is, in 1986, that area was known.  Because of that disgusting MotherBrain, Exor, whose jurisdiction was over that unexplored area, was told by the Palace of Power to secede, and its territory was declared 'unknown' by VideoLand.  This was to protect Exor from MotherBrain.

"Anyway, at the time, Chemistra was being considered for entry into the Kingdom of VideoLand."

"I see," said Wilykat.  "I believe it still is."

"Probably.  The process usually takes seven to ten years.  Its application was sent in eight years ago."  She smiled.  "I know Zelda."

"Ah!  Do you know her well?"

"I used to know her well," said Jayna.

"Why don't we sit down for a few minutes?"

"Sure."  They saw an opening to the south, so they went that way.

"This is the more secret route to Hyrule Castle," Wilykat realised.  Several metres to the south, they sat down against a tree.  "We found a shortcut."

"You and your masculine intuition," said Jayna, smiling.  "I'm proud of you."

            "You like me, don't you?"

"I don't merely like you.  I love you!"

"Really?" asked Wilykat.  This was all getting to be a little too much for him.  "You love me?"  He had not been nearly so surprised in all his life.

"Yes, I love you.  Shouldn't I love you?"  Wilykat really had to read her, to see if she really did love him as much as she thought.  He did read her.  She loved him even more than she could know.  He checked his own thoughts.  His discovery was so surprising to him that he almost had to think to keep himself under control.

"Would you believe me if I told you that we love each other more than we know?"

"I believe you!  Oh, of course, I believe you!  Oh, Wilykat, I love you."

"I love you, too, dear Jayna."  During the next fifteen minutes, the two kissed, only having thoughts of each other.

            Main Ready-Room, Enterprise.

Wilykit and Wesley were not so lucky, however.  Wesley was so very unhappy with himself, nearly crying.  Wilykit felt very sorry for him.  She understood humans better than they understood themselves.  Such typically human errors, and poor Wesley was beating himself up because of them.  Of course, flunking a calculus examination and making one's universe a lemon were two entirely different things.  She just could not be mad at him.  "There, there, my dear Wes," she said.  "It is not the end of the world.  What's done is done, Wes.  I understand your errors.  I'm not mad."  A look into her eyes told Wesley that she was truthful.

"Your generation of the Wilykat-Race is so powerful.  You don't even know the limits of your abilities, 'Kit.  I did not determine the destiny of anyone.  I'm just so happy you're good."

"So'm I," said Wilykit.  "Evil ones should not have my abilities."

Wesley smiled.  "Definitely not.  Wilykat needed Tygrana."

"Yeah.  She needed him, but he couldn't help."

            "Jaga helped."

            "How?"

"Well, this may sound weird, but his spirit is the son of the Father.  God incarnated part of Jesus Christ's spirit into Jaga.  Some time ago, God reincarnated Tygrana's spirit into Jayna and Tygraguillermo {tahy-grah-gé-lyáyr-mó}'s spirit into Zan."

            "Really?"

"Sure.  You don't know how much compassion Jaga had for you and your bro.  Has for you and your brother."

"I see.  Do you regret our becoming Amore Eternamente?"

"Certainly not, 'Kit.  I love you more than anything, except possibly my mother."  They closed their eyes and kissed for a few seconds.

"Captain," said Data's voice over the comm-line, "please come to Engineering."

Wesley tapped his communicator.  "On my way, Data."  He tapped it again, shutting the comm-line.  "Let's see what Droidstein wants now, 'Kit."  Wilykit could not avoid one little snicker before they left.  They went straight to TurboLift 2.  "Main Engineering."  The turbolift's doors closed, and it began descending.  "I can't tell you how much your support means to me, 'Kit."

"Don't worry about it, Wes.  I hate to see anyone suffer."  A moment of calm silence.  " 'Droidstein'?"

            "Yeah."  He was slightly embarrassed.

            "Wilykat, I'll kill you."

            "Why will you kill him?"

"He's been kissing Jayna for fourteen minutes!  He's nuts!"

"Like we?"  The two had to resist the urge to kiss each other.

"I guess.  Can we still go to Hyrule?"

"In the holodeck.  I can't go to the real place because of my duties."

"-Sigh.-  I understand, Wes.  I must.  I love you."  After a while, she sighed again.  "Fifteen minutes precisely.  I'll kill him."

            "You don't mean that."

"Of course not, but he'll think he's dead.  I'll tickle him so much he won't know what'll have hit him!"

            "Is he ticklish?"

"Wesley, all Thunderians are ticklish.  Unlike humans."

            "I'm ticklish."

"Okay.  I know some humans aren't."  The turbolift arrived at the deck of Main Engineering, and the door opened.

            "Ladies first."

"Thank you," said Wilykit, preceding Wesley.  They went directly to Main Engineering, where Data was waiting at the main station.  "Good evening, Data!"

"Ah!  Good evening, Wilykit.  How are you?"

"We are well, thank you.  And you?"

"I'm operating within specified parameters."  Wesley and Wilykit were nearly unable to keep from laughing.

"Data, a simple 'I'm fine' would've sufficed!" said Wesley.  "Now, what would you like?"

Data said, "Sir, I have finished the modifications that you asked me to perform on the phase-cloaking device."

Wesley said, "Data, you don't need to call me 'sir.'  You may call me 'Wesley'."

            "Very well, Wesley."

"Now, take the Bridge, if you please."

"Aye, Wesley."  As Data left, Robin Lefler entered the area.  A little shorter than each Wesley and Wilykit, she had a gold-coloured uniform.  Her black hair was tied in a ponytail.

            "Good evening, sir," she said.

Faking impatience, Wesley said, "I just got through telling Data that I don't have to be called 'sir' all the time."

            "All right, Wesley."

"Thank you.  Now, until Mr. LaForge returns, you're in control down here, Robin."

"No problem.  Law number 90:  'Keep Engineering running, or you may lose more than your job.' "

"Yeah," said Wesley.  "You may lose your head.  I know you'll keep us alive."

"Well, Wesley, I'll try," said Robin Lefler.  "See you later."

"Later," said Wesley.  He and Wilykit left.

While they were walking down the corridor to the turbolift, Wilykit was reading Wesley's thoughts and Robin Lefler's thoughts.  In the turbolift, Wesley let her decide where to go.  "Main guest quarters deck," Wilykit ordered.  When the door had closed and the turbolift was ascending, Wilykit said, "Smooth move, Wes.  She just became enamoured with you again."

"How?  I've explained everything to her.  She said she understood."

"Well, Wes, she does understand, but that didn't affect how she feels about you."

"Well, what're you going to do?"

"Technically, I can do nothing but advise you."  The turbolift stopped, and the door opened.  "Coming?"

"Yeah," said Wesley.  The two walked out and toward Wilykit's quarters.  "I really don't know what to do, 'Kit."

"-Sigh.-  Well, I don't know what you ought to do."  They entered her quarters, where she sat at the table.  "Have a seat."

"Thank you," said Wesley.  He took a chair and sat right next to Wilykit.  "How do I train that defence mechanism out of you, the one that keeps me from complimenting you?  I really want to compliment you, but you won't let me."

"It can be trained out by the Amoro Eternamente, I believe."

"But how?"  Wilykit put her left hand on his right shoulder and her right hand on the middle of his chest.  She smiled affectionately at him.

"I have to over-complement you - and I really know how - between kisses or while making love with you."  Wesley's smile revealed his nervousness.

"I don't know if I'm ready to make love to you right now, 'Kit.  I've not stopped feeling the reactions of what we did yesterday morning.  Mom's afraid that you may overload me."

"Well, Wes, I try to be careful not to.  I honestly didn't realise how much control I'd lose while making love.  I promise, Wes, I wouldn't intentionally hurt you."

"I know, 'Kit, and I trust you.  I'm just afraid that you might unintentionally hurt me."

"I'm sorry, Wes.  I'll go really, really slowly this time.  Maybe I can avoid harming you if I. . ."

Wesley became tired of seeing her overwork herself with precautionary measures, so he interrupted, "Shut up, and let's begin!"

"Okay."  Just before they kissed, the Red-Alert alarms sounded.  "What?"

Over the comm-system, Data called, "Captain, please report to the Bridge."

Wesley tapped his communicator and responded, "On my way, Data."  He tapped it to close the comm-line.  "Rats."

"Yes," agreed Wilykit.  "Let's go."  They left for the Main Bridge.

            * * *

            Directly West of Hyrule Castle.

Wilykat was curious.  That fifteen-minute-long kiss all but blew his mind.  How could that happen?  He was a member of the strongest humanoid race known.  How could an Exorian or, for that matter, any non-Thunderian do that to him?  The time was right for him to tell.  "Jayna, there's something in my judgement that keeps me from being as intimate with you as I wish," said Wilykat.

            "What is it?"

"I believe that I had already had Amore Eternamente with someone before you and I met."

            "When was this?"

"Seventeen eighty-five was the year.  Exactly one year long, when I was nine and ten years old.  School on Thundera began on 1 January and lasted until about September or October.  October was the month in which the Thunderian summer began, on twenty-one, when the sunlight period was longest in the whole year.

"Anyway, on that first day when 'Kit and I went to school, we went first to get our schedule.  Singular.  With extremely few exceptions, twins were always required to attend the same classes."

            "Like on Exor," remarked Jayna.

"Hm.  Well, 1785 was our fifth school year.  We lived in a small suburb, Tíghrasobórgho {-grah-só-bór-gó}, of the capital city of the Tiger-Race-Country, Tighro, D.F. {-gró, dé-áy-fáy}.  Most towns had a school.  By the time one was 14 or 15, one had the equivalent of a four-year college education on Earth."

"Hm.  Exor is a lot like that."

"I see.  Well, that fifth year, we began taking courses on the Ancient Thunderian language, the most-spoken language on Old Thundera.  That was required.  One could start in the fourth year, but that was not recommended.  Our Ancient Thunderian class was first period first semester and fourth period second semester.  Second period first semester was English V.  That included literature of the Cheetah-Race and of the Tiger-Race as well as peculiar grammatical aspects of the Puma-Race's dialect.  Don't let Pumyra know that I think it's nuts, okay?"

            "All right."

"Okay.  Um, third period was advanced algebra and fourth was Thunderian Swedish, which we had begun learning the second semester of the previous year.  All language courses were required.  First period second semester, we began Thunderian Portuguese."

"What's that like?" she asked eagerly.  She then checked herself.  "Sorry.  I just like Portuguese a lot."

"That's okay.  I'll tell you later," promised Wilykat.  "The reason there are so many 'Thunderian' languages is because they were all formed from things we found in our genetic structure that hinted as to languages which were spoken by people who came before us.  There was evidence on our planet and in our genes that the basis for our code was constructed in another time line a couple of years in the future from this moment by. . . sorry.  It's a theory made by several scientists on Thundera in 1786, and Tygra and Panthro have been studying it.

"Anyway, back to the subject.  Second period, there was chemistry.  Third, Tygran history.  Anyway, 'Kit and I had hardly ever seen the young lady before 1 January 1785.  By the way, Thunderian years coincide exactly with VideoLand years.  Her name had been published for excellence in Ancient Thunderian in the '84 school year, actually.  Despite her young age, she helped as a teacher's assistant in the Ancient Thunderian classes that 'Kit and I attended.  As a student, she attended the other six classes that 'Kit and I went to.  On the first day,. . ."  He snapped his fingers for emphasis.  ". . .she and I fell in love.  I knew I had fallen in love with her at 8.10, when our teacher, Gusêpe vân Tygrov {jú-seh-páy van tahy-grahf}, a speaker of Ancient Thunderian from birth, introduced Tygrana to our class."  Jayna frowned thoughtfully.  "What?"

"It's strange," said Jayna.  "I feel that I know her well, but I'm telling you that this is the first time anyone's told me anything about her."  She shook her head for a moment, then her eyes widened in great surprise.  "No!  It feels like I was she!"

"There's an old saying among us," said Wilykat.   Se estose-vu vérginu, se estose-vu Amore Eternamente, e se estose-vu seperatu ingustamente, estare havese-vu riunitu per Dío e per Jaghe.  {Sáy ehs--sáy-vú váyr-jé-nú, sáy ehs--sáy-vu ah--ráy áy-tehr-nah-máynh-táy, áy sáy es--sáy-vú sáy-páy-rah-tú énh-jús-tah-máynh-táy, ehs-tah-ráy hah-váy-sáy-vú ré-ú--tú páyr -ó áy páyr zhah-gáy.}  [Ancient Thunderian]   Jayna, amazed, shook her head.

"How can I know exactly what it means?" she asked, entirely surprised.  "I shouldn't even know the language, but I know that sentence almost by heart!  'If you are virgins, if you are Amore Eternamente, and if you are unjustly separated, you shall be reunited by God and by Jaga.' "  Wilykat remembered something that only Tygrana and he knew.

            "Do you know our tongue-twister?"

"I guess.  Let me think.  She did so for a moment.  She then rapidly said,  Jo no cõpre cacau porquè come poco cacau.  {Zhó nó kónh-pruh kah-kahw pór-káy kó-muh pó-kú kah-kahw.}  [Thunderian Portuguese]  (I don't buy cocoa because I eat little cocoa.)   Wilykat smiled.

"You know it," he said.  "Only Tygrana could remember that nonphonetic little O on the end of poco {-kú} [Thunderian Portuguese] (little).  Well, only she, Wilykit, and I could."

"Honestly, I don't understand.  No one's told me a word about this KCN disease, but I know of it.  It's just. . . it's just so darned confusing!"

Wilykat said, "Wilykit really understood Tygrana better than I.  Maybe you and I ought to talk to her about this."

            "Yeah.  Wilykat, I love you."

"I love you, too."  They stared into each other's eyes for a few moments, thinking only of each other.  They were interrupted by the beep of Wilykat's communicator.

Wilykit's voice said, "Wilykit to Wilykat.  Come in, please."

Wilykat said, "I wonder what she needs."  He tapped his communicator.  "What is it, 'Kit?"

"Very sorry to interrupt, 'Kat.  Your presence is requested aboard the Enterprise."

"All right, 'Kit.  Wilykat out."  He tapped his communicator.  "That's not she."

"What?" asked Jayna, surprised.  "It sounded. . ."

"I know.  I heard no imperfection in her voice.  However, I am telepathically joined to her, as you know, and I know it was not she who was talking to me."

            "Who, then?"

"I'm not sure.  One moment.  Oh, my Jaga; it's Aluro!  If I'm right, he, Luna, and Liquidator have taken control of the Enterprise!"

            "Oh, great.  What'll you do?"

            "Let's go see Link first."

"All right."  They got up and headed eastward for Hyrule Castle.
