Act 111 - Date: 13 July 1993
Section 5: Q-niverse
Part 6: Wilykat and Jayna; MegaMan X
First and Only Division
Thirty-first Chapter
Characters: Thunder Cats, N-Team Base, Remaining SuperFriends, People of the Enterprise, Romulans, Plundarrian-Team, Brain-Team Base, Fearsome Ten, Cardassians
July 13.
Main Bridge, Enterprise.
"H Data said, "I would advise that you think again, Liquidator. The captain is not here."
"Yeah?"
"That is correct. Computer, take no orders from any member of the Brain-Team. Authorisation: Data alpha-5."
"Request acknowledged," stated the computer. "No member of the Brain-Team may now give an order to the computer of the Enterprise."
"I'm not going to give this ship orders, can-opener-brain!" said Liquidator.
"No," said Aluro. "We're going to give you orders! Ha, ha!" He took his Mesmerisation Club, pointed it at Data, and shone the mesmerisation beam on him. "You shall follow my orders and those of Liquidator and Luna only."
Data was unable to resist Aluro at all. "Yes, Aluro," he said in a monotone voice. "I will do as you order." Security emerged from a turbolift.
"Yah!" screamed Luna. "Security!"
Aluro ordered, "Stop them, Pin-data-co!"
"Yes," said Data. He rammed into one and began swinging him in a circle. Data flung him into all five other officers with one toss.
"Excellent! Now, open a channel to the Kazara." Data went to the Tactical station and opened a channel to the Romulan Warbird.
"Sub-Commander Narak of the Kazara," said Data, "this is Commander Data of the Enterprise. Respond, please." Narak appeared on the screen. He was suddenly shocked.
"Don't bother to adjust the picture, Narak!" Luna said. "We Luna-tacks came in the cloaked Sky Tomb, and Liquidator, Amok, Aluro, and I beamed directly onto the Enterprise's Main Bridge and outdid the crew here. Data is under our control now! Ha, ha, ha!"
"Data," said Liquie, "ready the cloak, but don't activate it until we say so!"
"Yes," said Data. He went to the Engineering station and activated it to configure the cloak controls. Aluro got out a box that he fastened onto his mouth.
"Now, to trap Wilykat!" said Aluro, activating the box. In Wilykit's own voice, he added, "With his own sister's voice!" Luna gave him a communicator, which he activated. "Wilykit to Wilykat. Come in, please."
In a moment, Wilykat's voice responded, "What is it, 'Kit?"
"Very sorry to interrupt, 'Kat. Your presence is requested aboard the Enterprise."
"All right, 'Kit. Wilykat out." The communicator beeped. Aluro deactivated the voice-imitation device.
"A sucker and a fool!" laughed Luna.
Liquidator warned her, "Don't count your felines before they've been neutered, Luna."
"The cloak may now be activated," announced Data.
Aluro said, "Very well. You'll love this, Narak! Do it, Data!"
"Yes, Aluro." The door of the aft turbolift opened, and Wilykit sprang out and easily knocked down Data before he could activate the cloaking device. She deactivated him by pressing his switch.
"WHAT?!?" screamed Luna.
Narak smiled. "You're right, Luna-tack. I did love that!"
"Howdy-doody, kitty," said Liquidator. "How are you?"
"I'm perfectly well, thank you, Waterhead," said Wilykit.
"Why, you!" Wilykit tossed a capsule into him. "Ha! It does nothing, pip-squeak!" Suddenly, he collapsed. "What in the world!"
"Now, you will only obey the laws of liquids, cement-brain," said Wesley, coming out of the turbolift.
"Don't tell me, 'Kit," said Luna. "Your boyfriend's now captain, isn't he?"
"You Luna-tacks are so stupid that you probably don't even know what love is!" said Wilykit.
"We don't see where you're right," said Luna.
"Watch it, Thunder Kitten," said Aluro. "I remembered something interesting today." He withdrew something from his belt-pocket. It emitted infrared-coloured gas visible only to Wilykit.
"Uh-oh, Wes!" Wilykit said, backing away. "That's Plundarrian love-plant! It attracts Thunderian females to their Amoro Eternamente and. . . and. . ." It began to affect her.
"And do what?" asked Wesley. Wilykit stopped. She smiled at him in a rather knowing way. "Uh, Wilykit?"
"You'll find out in a moment, Wes," she said.
"Oh, no," he said. He ran inside the Main Ready-Room.
"Go ahead and play hard-to-get, Wessie!" said Wilykit. She went calmly to the door to the Ready-Room and easily forced it open. She entered, and the door re-closed behind her. Wesley had hidden himself, but Wilykit's nose let her know where he was. "Oh, Wessie, you deserve this!" Wesley came out from the replicator-area. He was scared. "What's wrong?"
"Wilykit," said Wesley, controlling his voice, "I can't. I have to protect this ship."
"But I love you," said Wilykit. Wesley tapped his communicator.
"Wilykat!"

Throne Room, Hyrule Castle, Planet Hyrule.
"I see," Princess Zelda said. "Link, how about accompanying them to the Enterprise and helping?"
"Sure, Zelda!" said Link. "Will I get a kiss?"
"You're making a bad habit of asking."
"You're making a bad habit of refusing!" Link retorted.
"Well, thank you, Einstein!"
"Well, excuse me, Princess!"
"Tell you what," said Zelda. "If Jayna tells me you really helped out, I'll at least consider giving you a real kiss."
"Thanks, Princess!" Link knew better than to ask for half of it now. Wilykat tapped his communicator.
"N-Team Transporter,. . ."
Wesley's frantic voice interrupted, "Wilykat! This is Wesley! Respond, please!"
Concerned, Wilykat tapped his communicator and said, "I'm coming anyway, Wes."
"Please, hurry!" The communicator beeped.
"That is Wesley. Transporter, transport three to the Main Ready-Room of the Enterprise." Wilykat, Jayna, and Link were transported there.
* * *
Main Ready-Room, Enterprise.
"Wes," said Wilykit, "I would never hurt you." Wesley stayed at the door to the replicator. Why run? Wilykit could catch him in a nanosecond. She was in no hurry to get him, though, as she stood her ground. Wilykat, Jayna, and Link arrived.
"Link, Wesley Crusher," announced Wilykat. "Wes, this is Link."
"Li'l bro, tell Wes he should quit this," said Wilykit.
"Why don't you quit?" asked Wilykat. "He can't do what you want now."
"But I love him, Wilykat."
"Plundarrian love-nip!" said Wilykat. "I should've known, darn me! Makes a female Thunderian be attracted without any resistance at all to her Amoro Eternamente." He turned to Jayna. "You must stay in here."
"I understand," said Jayna truthfully.
"Wes, don't fight her," said Wilykat. "Transport to Hyrule with her. Until you do what she wants,. . ."
"I can't, Wilykat," said Wesley. "I can't leave this ship."
"You must, Wesley. Trust me, when extremely powerfully telepathic Wilykats feel rejected by their Amore Eternamente, it wreaks such havoc on other people's minds. . . trust me, Wes. Whoever let 'Kit smell that love-nip put the citizens of this galaxy in even greater danger than could be believed."
"Okay," said Wesley. Wilykit smiled and went over to him. He smiled at her. "Okay, Wilykit." They kissed for a moment.
Wilykit tapped her communicator and said, "Might as well take advantage of this. Two to transport to Lake Hylia on Hyrule." They were transported there.
Link said himself quietly, "Why won't Zelda kiss me like that?"
"Now, let's cream those evil puff-heads," said Wilykat.
* * *
Main Bridge.
"Where is Wilykat?" demanded Luna. Data had been reactivated. Liquidator was still a puddle in front of the captain's chair, however. "And are you sure he has an Amora Eternamente, Aluro?"
"Sure," said Aluro. "I have many bugs planted on Hyrule. He and Jayna kissed for fifteen minutes near Zelda's castle."
"Okay," said Luna. The door to the Ready-Room opened, and Wilykat ran out and knocked out Data in the same manner as Wilykit had. He had finished in two point sixty-seven seconds. "Aren't we quick today!" remarked Luna. "Your sister already did that!!"
"How about some Plundarrian love-plant, Thunder Kit?" Aluro asked.
"That is even worse!" said Wilykat. He tossed a sleep-gas pellet at Luna, and its gas knocked out Amok and her.
"Oh?" said Aluro. "Didn't you bring your girlfriend, Wilykat?" A boomerang flying from the Ready-Room smacked him in the head and knocked him out. With that, Data was released from Aluro's control, so Wilykat reactivated the android.
"Hello, Wilykat," said Data.
Wilykat said, "Hello, Data. This is Link."
"Ah! Guten Tag {Gú-tehn tahkh} [German] (Good day), Link."
"Hello, Data," said Link.
Wilykat said, "Data, Wesley had to leave with Wilykit."
"I am aware of that," said Data. "Aluro said that he would have to yield to Wilykit's desire for copulation to keep Wilykit from involuntarily destroying the galaxy with telepathic rage."
"That's very true." The Romulan subcommander had been watching the whole time, his comprehending visage still on the viewscreen. He would make an excellent commander some day.
"I see," said Narak. "Where are the other Luna-tacks?"
Data said, "I shall check." He went to the Tactical station and did so. "Ah! They are presently 2 000 kilometres south of Mars. One moment. They are decloaking." At the position he specified, the Sky Tomb decloaked. Suddenly, Luna, Amok, Aluro, and Liquidator were beamed directly off the Bridge. "Our shields were down. I am now raising them." He raised the ship's shields. "The Sky Tomb is substantially less massive than the Enterprise. It would not withstand retaliation from this ship."
Wilykat became pale. "Uh, oh!" he whispered. He said, "Data, we're in trouble."
"How so?"
"Ludwig is allied with the Borg."
* * *
Bridge, Ludwig's Warbird, in orbit around Cardassia.
"Good day," greeted Ludwig as Larry came onto the Bridge.
"Good day," replied Larry. "How are you?"
"I'm very well, thank you," Ludwig said. "And you?"
"I'm very well, thank you. The Borg are at the appointed location."
"Excellent, my brother. Take us to them."
"Yes, brother!" said Larry, taking his pilot position. "Course set for the location of the Borg."
"Warp 25," ordered Ludwig. Larry input that.
"Warp 25," said Larry. "Engaging." The enormous Warbird pointed toward the location of the Borg ship and took off toward it.
Ludwig tapped a button on his armrest. "Gul Ra Lett, this is Prince Ludwig. Please come to the Bridge," he said.
"Yes, Prince," replied Cardassian Gul Ra Lett. Ludwig re-tapped the button and closed the comm-line.
"Soon - very soon - the Borg will be allied to the Evil Koopa Kingdom as are the Cardassians at this moment!" said Ludwig evilly. "I will have the 3rd Koopulan Empire in few years." He had decided to double-cross the Borg and the Cardassians long before he arrived at Cardassia. He had known how to call the Borg. He had known how to control the Borg. Having tapped into Federation records, he recognised the basic, critical technology in the Borg implants as Thunderian in origin. He now was the Borg commander. Only he, his father, and Larry knew that at present. He would tell MotherBrain as soon as they were in contact range. The N-Team would also find out. . . the hard way.
Gul Ra Lett arrived on the Bridge. "I am here," said he.
"I appreciate your promptness, my friend," said Ludwig. "I called you here to inform you that we are proceeding to our rendez-vous with the Borg."
"Very well," said Gul Ra Lett. "There will be a slight problem in obtaining a critical part of the cloaking device. It is located only in the Federation, the Ferengi Alliance, and the Klingon Empire."
"I have anticipated that problem. Dr. Wily, one of my most able associates, has located an enormous supply of the material on Tetris World, one of the worlds in the Kingdom of VideoLand.
"Larry, bring in the prisoner, or have him brought in!"
"Yes, evil bro!" said Larry. "Roy?" Roy tapped a button on his console and left the Bridge. He soon returned with Sub-Commander Movard. "I present Sub-Commander Movard of the Romulan Bird of Prey Othello."
The Romulan stated, "Name: Movard. Rank: Sub-Commander. Present assignment: Romulan Bird of Prey Othello. Number: ROM-063-791D."
"How quaint," said Ludwig. "My name is Ludwig von(Bowser)Koopa. My rank is commander of this vessel and prince of the Evil Koopa Kingdom; it will soon be emperor of this galaxy. I have no assignment, and I have no number. Now, what was the intention of the Romulan warships in approaching Cardassia?"
"I refuse to answer any questions whose answers may negatively implicate my Romulan government or myself," Movard stated.
"That matters not. Roy?" Ludwig vacated the command chair. Roy forced Movard to sit in it. Ludwig put the tips of his left hand's index and middle fingers on Movard's forehead. "Thy thoughts to mine; thy mind is mine!" He stole Movard's memory. He not only read the Romulan's memory, but he stole it.

Control Room, Metroid.
"Darn it!" exclaimed MotherBrain upon hearing the Luna-tacks' news. "Warp to Metroid immediately!"
"Yes," said Luna, on the viewscreen. MotherBrain then deactivated that screen.
"I'll fix those bloody do-gooders!" said MotherBrain, suddenly with a thoroughly evil scheme in her brain. "I need Ridley!"
Eggplant Wizard said, "I'll go get him." MotherBrain nodded. He left the room.
"Wily, bring Planet Zebes back together!"
"Yes, Thine Evilness!" said Wily. Going over to a control panel, he added, "Zebes will be back together right away!" Zebes itself had not been destroyed entirely. What had been destroyed about a year before these events took place was a remainder of what had been MotherBrain's Zebesian base, or Zebesian Tourian. It had been all that remained of that base until the N-Team caused its destruction a year ago. Dr. Wily had filled the caverns with circuitry that allowed him and MotherBrain to locate the pieces of the Zebesian base and Zebes, just in case either or both had been destroyed and they needed a whole Zebes for another plot.
Wily manipulated location controls to locate the pieces of the Zebesian base. He then used motion controls to move the pieces together inside the actual planet. Within a small amount of time, Zebes was again one. "Now," said Wily, "shall I alter the caverns?"
"Only the ones that we did not use for my original Zebesian Tourian there," said MotherBrain. On both Metroid and Zebes, there were parts named Tourian; Brinstar, a rocky land and forested area; Norfair, a fiery land; Maridia, a watery land; and Sunken Ship, a crashed spaceship.
"Very well." He did as she asked.
"I recall that there was much territory that we didn't use," said MotherBrain. "I'm glad we filled the walls with circuitry so we could control the planet."
Dr. Wily said, "As am I, MB." Followed by Eggplant Wizard, Ridley came in with ProtoMan.
"You sent for me, my queen?" Ridley asked. He was similar to a dragon, except he was more red and insect-like than one, and he was skinny. His use of his tail was as a spiral, to attack enemies while he spat fire at them. He had also been the underling who located Zebes in the first place. . . MotherBrain's most faithful assistant. His intellectual capacity, unusually high among MotherBrain's other Metroidian creations, made him a valuable asset. He was one of the only creatures Metroid had produced that knew English.
"Yes," said MotherBrain. "I need that baby Metroid, Ridley."
"Say no more!" said Ridley. "I shall go immediately to the research centre of MegaLandian Siberius and nab 'im."
ProtoMan said, "I'll come along. Should MegaMan try to interfere, I would hate to leave him undealt with! Ha, ha, ha!"
"Go, then," said MotherBrain. "Go to MegaLandian Siberius and get me that Metroid!"
"ProtoMan," said Wily, "take four of my Robot Masters along."
"Roger, Doc!" ProtoMan said.

Main Bridge, Enterprise.
Commander Torreth and Admiral Tomalak arrived in the aft turbolift and came onto the Bridge. "Welcome to the Main Bridge, Admiral and Commander," Riker greeted them. He shook hands with both of them.
"Thank you," said Tomalak.
"Sky Tomb has warped to third-Earth," said Data.
Wilykat was supervising Tactical. Link was standing to his right, Jayna behind him. "Well, I'm getting a funny feeling again," said Wilykat. "Oh, no. MotherBrain's sending Ridley, her pet scraggly dragon, and ProtoMan, MegaMan's evil robotic brother and Dr. Wily's assistant, to MegaLandian Siberius to gain possession of the baby Metroid."
"I have some information," said Link. "Dr. Wright and Dr. Cossack have just deactivated MegaMan. It's temporary, but they have to perform a bi-annual inspection on him at this time. Chief Samus Aran is around.
"Siberius is a commonwealth of MegaLand. It makes up an eighth of that entire republic. The lab where the Metroid larva is being kept and studied is in a colony about one hundred thousand kilometres from the main planet of Siberius. The majority of the people in Siberius speak Russian or French as a first language, while many, if not all, speak English as a second."
"Interesting," said Data.
Wilykat said, "Someone's got to go to Siberius in MegaLand and stop Ridley and Proto. We'd better call Steelheart and tell her about this."
* * *
Dr. Wright's Lab, outskirts of Monsteropolis, MegaLandian Earth, Republic of MegaLand, VideoLand.
Cossack finished taking readings and closed the new android's chest panel. The android's body was almost entirely blue, except for his human-like face. MegaMan's sister, Roll, and his dog, Rush, were present, as well as Samus Aran. "Everything's fine with him, Wright," said Cossack. "He has all of MegaMan's memories and powered weapons."
"Very well," said Wright, adding to his journal. "MegaMan must run the final test." He went over to MegaMan and activated him. MegaMan sat up.
"Whoa! I feel better!" said MegaMan. "Is X ready yet?"
Wright said, "Yes, MegaMan. You may now perform the final test."
"Right!" MegaMan removed his right hand. He then went over to the new android - who, come to mention it, bore a great resemblance to MegaMan, with a few exceptions - and removed his left hand. He connected his own right arm to the other's left arm. "Link established. I am now reading his memory. All the programming is in place, as are his instinct and memory programs copied from me. Physical systems are three percent better than planned. Pseudo-sexuality program is as planned, as is free-will programming. Everything checks out. I am now terminating the link." He separated his right arm from the other's left arm. He replaced the other's left hand on the left arm and his own right hand on his own right arm.
"Thank you, MegaMan," said Wright. "We must be careful, now that we know that the 'Dr. Wily' that you and the Thunder Kittens captured was merely a robotic duplicate."
"I hate him," said Cossack. "Ever since the fiend kidnapped my daughter and made me do evil, I've hated him."
Samus Aran said, "I've got a communication from Steelheart. Aran here, Steelheart. . . . I see. Well, we'll get right on it. . . . Sure. Aran out. Steelheart told me that Wilykat has just called her and told her that his telepathy has found out that MotherBrain has brought her Zebesian base back together and put it back into Zebes. He also told Steelheart that MotherBrain has sent Ridley to obtain the Metroid larva in Siberius. ProtoMan is accompanying the dragon."
"I'll go with her," said MegaMan. Wright nodded. "Siberius, here we come!" MegaMan tapped his communicator after having gone to Samus's side. "N-Team Transporter, transport two to Chief Samus Aran's ship." The two were transported there.
* * *
Shore, Lake Hylia, Hyrule.
Wilykit lay back-flat onto the ground. Wesley, on his left side and facing her, was to her right. "I feel like an idiot," Wilykit said. "Sure, this may have felt great, and we are now under the Triforce's seal, but you have important duties on the Enterprise. I kept you from them."
"It's not your fault, 'Kit," said Wesley.
"If I could have only immediately focused my attention on resisting that D-worded Plundarrian love-nip,. . ."
"Hey! Don't kill yourself over this, 'Kit. No one's supposed to be perfect in any universe or plane of existence. However, you, your dear bro, and the Wondertwins have evolved to my level, 'Kit."
"Ah! I see," she said.
"Wilykit, please. You mustn't talk about this to anyone other than Wilykat, the Wondertwins, and me. At least, for the time being."
"I understand, Wes." The two brought their lips together and kissed for five seconds. "Physically, Wes, you are the most attractive young man I've met. The same is true mentally." Wilykat being excluded, of course, she mentally added.
"Thank you, Wilykit. I feel exactly the same way about you." Wilykit smiled and sat up.
"I'm glad you managed to train that defence mechanism out of me, Wes."
"So'm I. I just can't help talking to you like that. You're so pretty." He sat up and stared into her eyes. "And I can't resist telling you."
"You're so sweet, Wes."
"So are you, 'Kit." He got up and took his uniform, which he had put in a clear spot so as not to get it dirty. He began putting it back on. "I despise dress uniforms." Wilykit smiled and got up. She put on her own clothing. "It isn't fair. I wish my dress uniform could be as comfortable as your clothes, Wilykit." They finished putting their clothing on. Wesley knew Wilykit would be unable to wear such clothing if she were human unless it was summer. "You're so pretty."
"Thank you, Wes." She then felt facts flowing into her mind. . . facts directed there by Wilykat. The Borg, MotherBrain, Ridley, the Metroid larva. . . the facts about them were revealed to Wilykit, facts that Wilykat had recently discovered about them. "Oh, my God! Thank you, my twin brother," said she. "Here's what my brother just told me, Wes." She pushed the information into his mind in less than a second. He took more than ten in contemplating it.
"I see," he finally said. It was obvious he did not want to talk about it. It was all so intimidating to the cadet. However, he kept his confidence up. He knew this to be no time to panic. "I just hope it's not too late to halt the growth of the Third Koopulan Empire."
"I sincerely hope so as well, my Amoro Eternamente." Wilykit's acute sense of hearing picked up the sound of footsteps. "Someone comes!"
In a moment, it came close enough for Wesley to hear. "Right. Who?" The approacher began to hum something in her soprano voice. . . something similar to the theme song of the 'Legend of Zelda' games.
"It's Princess Zelda!" said Wilykit. Princess Zelda soon entered the area. "Good evening!"
"Good evening, Wilykit," said Zelda. "This is my very good friend, Captain Wesley Crusher of the Enterprise," said Wilykit. "The temporary captain of it, anyway. Wes, this is Princess Zelda of the Kingdom of Hyrule and of the Hyrulian Empire."
"I'm pleased to make your acquaintance," said Zelda.
"As am I," said Wesley. The two shook hands.
Zelda asked, "Can you tell me how helpful Link was?" Wilykit nodded, then searched quickly through the information Wilykat had sent her.
"He was very helpful, according to my brother," said Wilykit. "Link knocked out Aluro in order to release Data from that lunatic Luna-tack's control."
"Great," Zelda said. "Now, I have to kiss him."
Wilykit said, "What's wrong with that? He loves you, Zelda."
"Well, I love him, as well. It's just that he acts so stupid at times. If he didn't act like that, I think I'd be more serious about our relationship."
"Zelda, he tries to impress you. That's common, even for Thunderians. The harder you try to reject him, the harder he'll try to impress you."
"Oh, okay," said Zelda. "I'll try to show him my true feelings. But NOT publicly, not yet. What's the nature of you two's relationship, if you don't mind my asking?"
Wilykit said, "It's such that we came here to get sealed. Thunderian Amore Eternamente."
"Ah. I see," said Zelda.
"Zelda, Link really loves you," said Wilykit. "Seriously, give the poor guy a chance. He may seem like a nut and a total idiot at times, but there is no one on Hyrule who could love you nearly as much as he does."
"You wouldn't be pulling my leg, would you?"
"Not at all, Zelda. I'm - pardon the phrasing - dead serious."
"Okay. I'll give it a shot," said Zelda. "Thanks."
* * *
Ceres Space Station, in orbit around Siberius, MegaLand.
Administrator Metroskovich was surprised when Ridley and ProtoMan warped in. "My God! It's Ridley and ProtoMan!" he exclaimed.
"Ha, ha, ha! How right you are!" said ProtoMan. Four super-androids - PlantMan, WindMan, FlameMan, and KnightMan, androids from Wily's recent plot-turned-fiasco to conquer MegaLand - warped in! "And we must not forget these super-androids: PlantMan, WindMan, KnightMan, and FlameMan!"
"You no longer have any luck, my dear friends!" said Ridley. "Give us the little Metroid, or die!"
The administrator cried, "Never! We'll never give it to you!"
ProtoMan smiled wickedly. "Too bad! That, my poor friend, is the wrong answer," said the evil ProtoMan. "You lose! Super-androids, attack!"
* * *
Main Bridge, Enterprise.
Wesley and Wilykit transported directly onto the Bridge. "Captain on the Bridge," announced Data.
"Red-Alert!" ordered Wesley. "Set course for the Republic of MegaLand!"
"How. . . oh, of course; the telepathy," Riker said as Ro input the co-ordinates.
Wesley said, "Correct. Cmdr. Torreth and Admiral Tomalak, would you please inform your ship to come or stay, whichever you require?"
"Certainly," said Torreth. She tapped her communicator. "Cmdr. Sela, this is Torreth. Please have the Kazara follow the Enterprise to MegaLand."
"Yes, Torreth," replied Sela.
Ro said, "Course laid in, sir."
Wesley said, "Very well. Commander Riker, please take Tactical."
"Aye, Captain," said Riker, going up to Tactical. Wesley took the central command seat.
"Admiral, have a seat if you wish," said Wesley, indicating the seat of the first officer.
"Thank you," said Tomalak. He went over and sat there. Torreth sat in the chair at the left end of the command horseshoe (from the perspective of facing the command centre from the viewscreen). Wilykit and 'Kat seated themselves at two unoccupied science stations. LaForge arrived on the Bridge and went to the Engineering station, whose terminal he activated.
"Computer, transfer control of Engineering to the Bridge," ordered LaForge. The station lit up.
"Engage," ordered Wesley. "Warp 25."
"Aye," said Ro. The Enterprise shot off toward MegaLand at warp 25 as soon as Ro had engaged, and the uncloaked Kazara followed.
* * *
Ceres Space Station, Siberius.
MegaMan and Samus surveyed the damage. "Seems like the mega-androids of that nut Wily came along for the ride and trashed the place," said MegaMan. "A spike of KnightMan's mace, some residue of the smell of FlameMan's fire chemicals, a little material from PlantMan's leafy barrier, and blown-in terminals revealing WindMan's air-blowing abilities."
Samus said, "Ridley's still here." She went over to a door that led to the spaceport. "In there!"
MegaMan looked with his X-ray vision. "Whoa, you're right! Let's get 'im!" The two blasted the door down, as Wily had deactivated the door-controlling computer. Also, the self-destruct sequence had been activated, and only five minutes stood between that time and the base's destruction.
"Howdy, Samus!" said Ridley, the tube holding the Metroid larva in his right hand. "Good to see you again! And you brought your pal, Mega-Dope-Droid!"
"Who're you calling that, Mr. Fire-Breath?"
"Ooh, don't call me that!" screamed Ridley. "I hate it when people call me 'Fire-Breath'! Good-bye!" The vile Ridley flapped his wings. As he rose in the air, the Metroid 'shrieked' (for it did, indeed, make a noise) in protest, as if it were calling out for its mother. "Don't worry," Ridley told it. "You'll soon be with your mother!"
"Ridley, you are a fool!" exclaimed Samus. "The Metroid won't recognise MotherBrain as its mother! It thinks that I am its mother!"
"That's impossible! You lie to me, Samus! It is you who are the idiot if you expect me to believe that!" Ridley flew away.
"Is that true, Samus?" asked MegaMan.
"Yeah," said Samus. "It's true."
"The self-destruct-sequence has been set," warned the computer. "One minute until self-destruction."
While this was repeated in Russian and finally in French, MegaMan said, "Let's get out of here!"
"Yes!" said Samus. She pressed a button on her suit, and she and MegaMan were transported to her ship, which she piloted clear of the station. There, they discovered that Ridley's ship was heading for. . . "Zebes? That makes no sense! We all destroyed MotherBrain's original Zebesian base a year ago." MegaMan's wrists shone a bright blue. "What's that?"
"Wright needs me!" said MegaMan. "Sorry, Samus."
"Go on. Think nothing of it," said Samus. "Later." MegaMan teleported to Wright's lab. Samus continued after Ridley.
* * *
Dr. Wright's Lab, Monsteropolis, MegaLand.
Wright was glad that the action required to summon MegaMan was literally the blink of an eye. WindMan was extremely observant. "Ha, ha!" laughed ProtoMan. "I have a super mega-surprise for you and my bro, guys! Ha, ha, ha!" MegaMan arrived.
"What are you doing here, brother?" demanded the Blue Bomber.
"I have a surprise from Wily," said ProtoMan. "One millennium - ten centuries - 100 decades - 1 000 years - 52 178.57 weeks - 365 250 days - 8 766 000 hours - 525 960 000 minutes - 31 milliard 557 million 600 thousand strenuously long seconds! - shall soon be what separates you from the rest of VideoLand and the rest of the galaxy! My wicked mad scientist pal shall accelerate this land approximately 32 milliard times for precisely one second. You will all be out of MotherBrain's hair for good!"
"Fiend!" exclaimed Cossack. "In one millennium's time, our language may change such that others might not understand it!" He was about Wily's height, and he had strangely orange hair, blue eyes, and glasses.
"One millennium without MotherBrain, Wily, or me giving you hell!! I'm actually doing you fools a favour!"
"You will never get away with it!" said MegaMan. "I may still be around!" ProtoMan and his four super-androids began to fade away.
"Silly brother! It's already too late!" said Proto. "As Samus and Ridley approach the regenerated base on Zebes, MotherBrain activates Wily's time-acceleration device! Once Samus is beyond MegaLand's borders and I and my friends warp entirely to New Tourian now in the very heart of Zebes, you will be unable to exit MegaLand for one thousand years, and neither will anyone be able to enter it! For me and everyone in the universe outside MegaLand, the time elapsed will be a mere second!" He and the super-androids disappeared completely.
Working with a calculator, Wright said, "This tragedy absolutely must be revealed." He checked his computer. "ProtoMan was telling the complete truth. I shall tell all of MegaLand to immediately recalibrate chronometric devices to alter the second to 317 ten-billionths of a second, from the minute to 19 ten-milliardths of a second, from the hour to 114 milliardths of a second, from the day to 27 ten-millionths of a second, from the normal year to 9 993 ten-millionths of a second, from the leap year to 1 002 millionths of a second, and from the millennium to a second, a change to remain in effect for a second."
MegaMan said, "Leave it to Wily and Proto to mess up the time system for a thousand years."

Almost a second later, the land was very different. Only English; Metroidian Portuguese; MegaLandian French, a modified form of VideoLand French; and MegaLandian Spanish, a form of Spanish much like Castilian Spanish, existed in the matter of languages in what now called itself the MegaRepublic. The land had grown and prospered over the milliseconds. It was aware, however, that its peaceful second was almost over. Everyone had seen the need to keep English as constant as possible.
Dr. Cain and X had just finished entering Wright's inner lab. X's programming had been completed before Wright sealed him in a testing capsule in the outer wall of the lab. The capsule was testing the reliability of X's systems because neither Wright nor Cossack would live long enough to do that test themselves. MegaMan, Roll, and Rush had to be sealed away in the inner lab so that no one could tamper with their systems. X had been programmed to find MegaMan if it were necessary. Also, Cain had wanted to find Wright's androids, and X knew the location of the inner lab. "We must find MegaMan," said X in an educated English accent, as opposed to his brother's general U.S. accent. He was about Dr. Wily's height. He looked much like MegaMan, except his hands were white, and there was a red circular object on the front of his helmet. "Only he knows the customs of VideoLand now."
"Yes," said Cain in the same accent. "It's too bad that you don't remember them." He looked a bit like Dr. Wright, except he had black hair.
X said, "It was Dr. Wily's fault. He erased it from my memory." He went over to a capsule. "Here! He's here!" He opened the capsule. MegaMan was lying inside. "I'll reactivate him." He carefully lifted MegaMan out and stood him up, leaning him on his back against a wall. X pressed a button in MegaMan's right side. "It will take a moment." In a moment, MegaMan's eyes opened slowly. "Hello, MegaMan."
"Oh. . . what's going on?" asked MegaMan, curious.
"I am X, your brother," X told him. "You are MegaMan, correct?"
"Yes, my name is MegaMan," said MegaMan. "What's the time?"
X said, "It's zero point two nanoseconds until ten minutes 'til two o'clock on 13 July 1993."
"Therefore, the second of a millennium is almost over."
"Yes."
"My name is Dr. Cain," said Cain. "I awoke X three hundred kilonanoseconds ago."
"What languages are spoken?" inquired MegaMan.
"Only English, Metroidian Portuguese, a modified form of VideoLandian French, and a form of Spanish are spoken," Cain said. "English the most."
"There's a new form of Spanish that many people now speak," said X. "It's MegaLandian Spanish, I believe."
"It is believed that it's much like Castilian Spanish," added Cain. MegaMan liked this. Three of the four languages were spoken throughout VideoLand. VideoLandian Spanish, similar to Castilian, was spoken in VideoLand as the second- or third-most-spoken language.
"It is?" MegaMan asked. "Many people in VideoLand speak English, VideoLandian Spanish, and Metroidian Portuguese." Something beeped three times.
"That was my watch," said Cain. "The second of a thousand years has passed."
MegaMan tapped his communicator. "MegaMan to Commander Steelheart. There is a slight problem in MegaLand."
