Act 126 - Date:  31 December 2994

Section 6:  The Return of the N-Team

Part 2:  The Syber-Squad and Wesley's Return

First and Only Division

Sixth Chapter

Characters:  (Q-niverse) Thunder Cats, N-Team Base, S.H.S.S.S., Brain-Team Base

            Earth 20 362, VideoLand, Milky Way, Q-niverse.  Stardate 1 049 504.1; December 31, 2994.

On Earth 20 362 (currently in its year 1994) lived Malcolm Frink, designer of mega-virus monsters that invaded electronic systems.  His ally, Kilokahn, sent the mega-virus monsters to the system that would be 'infected.'  Sam Collins, classmate of Malcolm's, had become Servo, part of a 'program' that could combat the mega-virus monsters.  His friends and he joined forces to form the Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad.

            Malcolm, the most mysterious kid in his school, was at home.  He had black hair, and he always wore black.  He was a tad under the average height for a normal 17-year-old European-American human male in the late 1900's.  Since he was taking calculus, he was designing a new type of mega-virus monster.  Kilokahn appeared on the principal monitor of Malcolm's computer.  He appeared to be a brownish-orangish-clad knight with a cape.  "Do you have my mega-virus monster, Malcolm meat-thing?"

            "No!  I have to check my integral equations and differentiation.  Don't worry; I've almost finished."

            "Well, hurry!  I need it to conquer the world of you meat-things without delay."

            "Yeah, yeah!  One moment!"  He put the paper with the drawing of his new virus in the scanner of his computer.  The virus appeared on the secondary monitor.  "There's the virus."  Malcolm smiled.  "His name is 'Conqueror.'  I designed his structure and capabilities with calculus.  His structure is stronger than that of my previous viruses."

            "Ah, yes!  Very good.  What does he do?"

            "He interferes with computer programs and changes them.  For example, if you would like, I could send 'Conqueror' to NASA, where he could corrupt all the artificial satellites that are in orbit around Earth.  Isn't this virus promising?"

            "Yes!  Very good, Malcolm!  Virus, I give you life!"  Kilokahn gave life to the virus.

            Malcolm kept from laughing.  Kilokahn could not control this virus; only Malcolm could control it.  He had gotten a new hard disk with a capacity of one terabyte!  Soon, Malcolm would control Kilokahn.  "We should test the virus."  [ - The prefix 'tera-' means 'million mega-', 'British billion', or 'American trillion.']

            "Agreed.  Send it wherever you want to."

            Malcolm smiled.  "I'm doing that now."  He tapped his order and entered it into the computer.  The virus was transported somewhere.

            "Where did you send it, Malcolm?"

            "To a system that I need to conquer."  Actually, the virus was going to capture Kilokahn's program!

            "What's happening?  I feel strange.  Eh?  No!!  Malcolm, you traitor!"

            "Yes, Kilokahn.  You are no longer overlord of the digital world.  I am!"  He laughed.

            "I will not help you!"

            "Oh, yes, you'll help me, Kilokahn.  I shall change your program to suit my purposes."

            "NO!!!"

            "Yes!  As we speak, my virus is bringing your control program into my new hard disk.  It can hold a million megabytes."

            Kilokahn became afraid.  Malcolm really could control him!  "No, Malcolm!  I promise to make all your viruses live!  I promise to do as you command!"  Smiling, Malcolm shook his head.

            "That would not be enough.  You'd be dangerous."

            Kilokahn tried to trick Malcolm.  "No, Malcolm.  I would be your invaluable assistant."

            "You will be that when I have changed your program!"  The hard drive activated. "Ah.  You'll soon enter my new hard drive."

            "Yaah!  No!  Stop this!"

            "No, Kilokahn.  I want you on my hard disk."  He laughed evilly.  Kilokahn disappeared from the principal monitor.  When the hard drive had Kilokahn's complete program, Malcolm began to alter its personality files and control files.  And he had fun.

            * * *

            A little later, Malcolm was in the school cafeteria, working with his laptop computer.  He was in a good mood. . . even when he spotted Sam Collins.  Sam had long sandy-blonde hair and was shorter than Malcolm only by a few millimetres.  Malcolm hated Sam, Jennifer Doyle's boyfriend.  Malcolm also was in love with Jennifer, a smart blonde about as tall as he was.  However, when he saw Sam, Malcolm did not lose his good mood.  He whispered to himself, "Soon, Sam, I'll eliminate you.  Then, Jennifer will be mine."  He giggled.

            Sam met his friends Sydney Forrester (a girl) and Tanker and said to them, "Hi, guys!  How's it going?"

            "Hi, Sam!" responded Sydney, who was the most intelligent student in the school.  She was about his height with brown hair.  She normally wore a wide-brimmed hat, which she did now.  "We're fine, thanks.  How are you?"

            "Oh, I'm doing very well, thank you."  He sat down.

            "Well," said Tanker, Sam's best friend, "will you go out with Jennifer tomorrow evening?"  Tanker was several centimetres taller than Sam, and he was built a little larger.  He was a football-player.

            "Of course, my friend.  At seven.  What are you going to do?"

            Malcolm overheard that Sam would go out with Jennifer the next day's evening and immediately lost his good humour.  He slammed his laptop shut to get everyone's attention.  "Do you mind!?" he demanded, getting up.  "I was quietly trying to work back here, and you bothered me!!"  He was screaming this at Sam, Tanker, and Syd.

            "Sit down and shut up, Frink!" Tanker exclaimed.

            "Calm down, Tank!" said Sam.  "He's only bad-tempered because he has no friends."

            "You're right," Tanker said, calming down.

            Malcolm took his laptop and left the cafeteria.  In the hall, he said to himself, "Did you say that I have no friends, Sam and Tanker?  You are wrong."  He opened his locker.  In it, he put his computer and activated it.  "Kilokahn!  I call you!"  Kilokahn appeared in the monitor.

            "Yes, Malcolm?" asked Kilokahn.

            "Use my new mega-virus monster to make Tanker's life miserable."

            "Of course, my friend."

            "Thank you, Kilokahn."

            "You're welcome, Malcolm."  He disappeared from the monitor.  Malcolm deactivated the computer.

            "Yes, I have a friend," said Malcolm.  "A friend that obeys my every command!"  He laughed evilly.  He stopped laughing when he saw Jennifer.  Her beauty still knocked him senseless.  "Jennifer!"

            "Get lost, Malcolm!" she responded.  "I love Sam."

            Sam, Sam, Sam.  Was there no one else about whom to talk?  "Do you have to talk about him all the time?  I hate him!"

            "You hate everybody!"

            "No!"

            "Yes!!  You think of no one except Malcolm Frink!"

            "That is not true!  I love you, Jennifer!"

            "That's a pity, Malcolm.  I'm not in love with you.  I would be your friend, but nothing more."

            "Thank you, Jennifer.  Your boyfriend is in the cafeteria."

            "Thank you, Malcolm."  Jennifer went into the cafeteria.

            For some reason, Malcolm felt better.  For a short moment.  "I should have known," said Malcolm to himself after that moment.  "I have been stupid.  To be in love with a girl who doesn't love me because of. . ."  In jealous rage, he took his computer and left for home.

            * * *

            In the cafeteria, Sam got up to greet Jennifer.  "Hi, Jennifer!"

            "Hi, Sam," Jennifer said to Sam.  "Are you ready for our date tomorrow evening?"

            "Yeah!  Is there a problem?"

            "Sam, Malcolm keeps bothering me.  I don't know what to do."

            "Next time, if you'll call me, I'll fix him."

            "Oh, Sam, I love you."

            "I love you too, Jennifer."

            "Will we go to band practice?" Tanker asked Sam.

            "I can come with you, can't I?" asked Jennifer.

            "Certainly," Sam said.  "Let's go."  They left for Sam's home.

            * * *

            Furiously, Malcolm typed orders on his computer.  "I'll fix Sam.  I'll teach him not to take my girl!  Kilokahn!!"  Kilokahn appeared on the principal monitor.  "I am inventing a computer bacterium."

            "I have never heard of computer bacteria," Kilokahn said.  "What do they do?"

            "They can do much more damage than mega-virus monsters," said Malcolm to Kilokahn.

            "Ah!  Interesting."

            "Your program can transform a mega-virus monster into a mega-bacterium monster and send it into the digital world."  He took a sheet of paper that was on his table.  "Here's a mega-bacterium monster."  He put it in the scanner; the bacterium appeared in the secondary monitor.  It appeared to be extremely nasty.  "Now, I'll tell you how to send it."  He typed an order into the computer.  He was extremely furious because of his recent conversation with Jennifer.  Now he felt like killing Sam, whether or not it meant that Jennifer would go out with him (Malcolm).

            "Ah, yes!  Bacterium, I give you life!"  Kilokahn gave life to the bacterium.  "Where do you want me to send it?"  Malcolm thought.

            "Into the power company.  We'll deactivate the country."

            "Ah!  From here, you can control all the power companies in the world with more bacteria like this one."

            Suddenly, Malcolm was put in a good mood again.  "I can?  Well, that makes me happy.  Send this bacterium into the digital world, and I'll make some bacteria that are like this one but much nastier.  Hm, hm, hm!"

            "Agreed."  Kilokahn sent the bacterium into the digital world.

            "Very well.  Is it going to the power company?"

            "Of course.  After all, you are the user of my program."

            Good answer, Malcolm thought.  "Yes.  Tell me, can I create a virus to spy on Sam Collins?"

            "Yes.  He has computer, doesn't he?"

            "Yes.  What did you do concerning Tanker?"

            "I gave him a driving record.  A very bad driving record!  Ha, ha, ha, ha!"

            "Ah!  Very good, my friend!"

            "Thank you, Malcolm."

            * * *

            At Sam's, Sydney was working with Sam's computer.  It was seven; Sam, Jennifer, and Tanker were talking.  "You're going to have to get a faster computer," Syd told Sam.

            "I wish I could," said Sam to her.  "If I had the money, I would."

            "You also need CD-ROM."

            "Yeah.  Do you have the money?"

            "You know I'm paying for my laptop.  I don't have it."

            "All right.  I'll talk with my parents about it."

            Elizabeth, Sam's younger sister, called, "Big brother!"

            "What is it, Elizabeth?" asked Sam.

            "A policeman is here.  He wants to talk with Tanker."

            "One moment, please," Tanker said.  He left.

            "I'll see what's happening," Syd said.  She left after Tanker.  After a few moments, she returned, furious.  "The policeman just arrested Tanker!"

            "What?" Sam exclaimed.

            "Yeah, and I know there must be a computer glitch.  That policeman said that Tanker has some one hundred driving tickets."

            "Impossible," said Sam.  "Tanker drives exactly per regulation.  He doesn't go an inch per year above the speed limit!"

            Syd said, "Yes.  He obeys all the driving laws."

            "Yes.  To the computer, my friend."

            "Excuse me, but what is going on?" asked Jennifer.  Sam had forgotten!

            Sam said, "Ah, Jennifer, we'd better talk."  Syd returned to the computer.  "Remember that time when we convinced you that something you had seen was a dream?"

            "When I saw you as a digital superhero?  Yes, Sam."

            "Well, Jen, you saw it for real.  We just didn't want you to tell anyone."

            "Sam, I would never do that."

            "I know that now.  I just. . ."

            "Sam!" Syd cried.  "Virus!"

            "Police database?"

            "Yeah.  This is an altogether different design."  Sam and Jennifer were next to Syd in a moment.  "Only two people could use integral and differential calculus to create a monster like this:  Sydney Forrester and Malcolm Frink."

            "Well, I believe we can rule you out.  But. . . I don't believe Malcolm could do this!"

            "Guess again, Sam.  This monster captured Kilokahn's program and stored it in a super-large hard drive.  I think that only Malcolm has a computer with enough power to do that."

            "I can't wait to trash that virus."

            "Sam, wasting the virus will clear Tanker, but Malcolm will still have Kilokahn.  We can't do anything about that."

            "Well, Syd, send me in."  Sam went to get his guitar.

            "Ready."

            Sam and Syd exclaimed, "Let's samuraise, guys!"  Sam struck a power-chord and was turned into a digital signal that entered the computer by the monitor.

            "Amazing," said Jennifer.  Servo rotated on the screen until he was facing Syd and Jennifer.

            "Let's save Tanker, guys!" Servo said.  He took off into the digital world to find the virus.  The digital tunnel took him to the police station.

            * * *

            "Attention, Malcolm," said Kilokahn.  "Servo is in the police station."

            Malcolm had been drawing.  "Oh, is he?  Let's destroy him this time, shall we?"

            "I have a better idea, Malcolm.  If you have one of those computer bacteria ready, we could send it in and have it bring Servo here.  We can lock him in an empty area of your new hard drive.  There, we can force him to leave the digital world through your monitor instead of his.  So, you'll know the man behind the digital superhero."

            "Oh, Kilokahn, that is a nasty idea.  How completely naughty.  Let's do it!"  Laughing, he put the sheet with his newest bacterium in his scanner.  As soon as the bacterium was on the secondary monitor, Kilokahn gave it life and sent it into the digital world.

            * * *

            Servo arrived where the virus was.  "This is a mean virus!  Let's finish him!"  He decompressed his program.  When he was big, he began combating the virus.  After a few seconds, however, it was clear to Syd that the virus was much too powerful for Servo alone.

            "Jennifer, Sam's getting defeated," Syd said.  "He needs help."

            "Mine?" Jennifer asked Syd.

            "Sure, Jen.  I need to stay here to monitor the program."

            "Syd," called Sam, "I need some help in here!"

            "Help is coming, Servo.  I'm sending in Drago {drehy-gó}."

            "Sam, I'm coming to help you," said Jennifer.  "It's useless for you to argue."

            "Fine!  Just hurry!" Sam said.

            Syd told Jennifer, "We're ready.  Shout something encouraging."

            Jennifer smiled.  Jumping twice, she shouted, "Go, Team Samurai, go!"  She entered the computer and found herself in Drago.  "How do I control this, Syd?"

            "I'll tell you," Syd said.

            * * *

            "It's working," Kilokahn said.  "Soon, Malcolm, you shall know who Servo is!"

            "Yes.  Drago is joining Servo."

            "Heh, heh!  That is good."

            "Let's just hope that Borr doesn't join them."

            * * *

            Sam and Jennifer were too much for the virus.  Syd watched as they destroyed it.  "Yes!" she cried in elation.

            "Time to fix the police files," Servo said.  He repaired the control towers.

            "Sam!" cried Syd.  "Jennifer!  Something's wrong!"

            "What?"

            "You are being pulled to another computer!"

            "Whose?"

            "Malcolm's!"

            "Get in here, Syd!"

            "Right!"  After preparing the Borr program, she got up.  Leaping once and punching upward with her right fist, Syd said, "Pump up the power!"  She entered the computer and found herself in Borr.  "I'm coming!"

            * * *

            Kilokahn told Malcolm, "The Borr-vehicle is in the digital world.  I have a suggestion.  That bacterium can obtain a visual recording of the human who is Servo.  It is doing so now."

            "So, I get a picture of the person that's Servo?"

            "We are receiving it.  Do you recognise him?"  Sam Collins's picture appeared on the secondary monitor.  Malcolm was shocked.

            "Samuel Collins is Servo!?"

            "The other two are Sydney and Jennifer.  Tanker is probably the other."  Malcolm's computer suddenly lost all power.

            "What?  What happened?"  The computer re-activated.  "Kilokahn!  What did you do?"

            Kilokahn appeared.  He appeared badly shaken up.  "Uh. . . uh, I did nothing, Malcolm.  There was a power surge.  The bacteria were destroyed."

            "Damn!" muttered Malcolm.  To Kilokahn, he said, "We'll re-try later."

            "Certainly, Malcolm."  Malcolm left.

            * * *

            In the school hall next morning, Sam and his friends were getting their books.  "I can't believe that happened," Sam said.  "That power surge that destroyed that monster."

            Jennifer said, "I know.  We sure were lucky."

            "I'm just happy that you saved me," Tanker told them.  "That policeman could not have been more embarrassed."

            "It is probably Malcolm's doing," said Syd.

            "It is Malcolm's doing," said Jennifer.  "I recognised that virus as his design.  No one but he could design something so repulsive.  He made the mistake of letting me see it."  Malcolm entered the hall.

            Malcolm said quietly, "Team Samurai."

            "Malcolm," replied Sam just as quietly.

            "The digital war is declared.  May the better win."

            "Agreed."  Malcolm went to Physics II class, where Syd, too, had to go.

            "Later, guys," Syd said.

            "See you at three-thirty," Tanker said.

            * * *

            Music Hall, Tighra, D.F. {-grah, dé-áy-fáy} [Ancient Thunderian] (Tighra, D.F.), New Thundera, Milky Way Galaxy.

            Ludwig von Koopa had the authority to make Ludwig van Beethoven relinquish command of the orchestra, but he did not use it, and he did not wish to.  The emperor had not heard this orchestral masterpiece before.  It was utterly magnificent.  And Ludwig von Koopa was surprised that the orchestra was playing so well on its first practice.  Beethoven must be a thorough conductor, and all of these people could sight-read well.

            Ludwig von Koopa had come in just before the practice had begun.  It took only a hundred minutes to get it perfect.  After the titanic finale, it was clear that Beethoven was pleased with the way they had played.

            "Excellent!" Beethoven said, clapping his hands.  "You have perfectly played my Tenth Symphony."

            Tenth Symphony, eh? Ludwig von Koopa asked himself.  "Bravo!" the emperor cheered.  "I commend your creative and conductive powers, Beethoven."  Beethoven turned and saw Ludwig.  [ - Unless specified, 'Ludwig' refers to Emperor Ludwig von Koopa.]

            "Thank you, Emperor."

            "Any singing in your piece?"

            "I wrote in some, but the chorus was not here yet to practise."

            "Indeed.  You could have called the Wilytwins or the Tygra-twins."

            "They were busy."

            "I see.  I shall contact the chorus, then."  He left to do so.

            The lead violinist, a young human, came to Beethoven.  He spoke with an educated English accent in English and a perfect Parisian accent when he spoke French, and he bore a great resemblance to Jean-Luc Picard, save that he had a full head of blonde hair and was indeed much younger.  "Herr Ludwig van Beethoven, I cannot tell you enough how much of an honour it is to meet you in person."

            "Well, Mr. Jean-Léonard {zhahnh-láy-ó-nahr} Picard, it is an honour to be here.  You lead a very fine orchestra."

            "Thank you, sir.  It is enough of an honour to play your music.  Tygrachatonne is the one responsible for the way we play the music that you wrote.  I guess she just naturally knows how you wanted your works played."

            "Yes, I know.  She showed me recordings of her sister's and her most famous performances.  Especially in this orchestra's case, everything the ladies conducted has pleased me immensely."

            "For all the trouble through which they went in order to get the orchestra founded, it is only in this past century that they have had extensive use of it."

            "I see."

            "Well, if nothing, the symphonies we've been practising are exciting.  When the Tygra-twins split the orchestra, I usually have to argue with myself on which half to join.  I have the liberty of making that decision.  Normally, I try to do it half-and-half during the practice.  That way, I keep up with both Tygrachatonne's and Tygragatinha's parts of the conduction.

            "The emperor is often a very demanding conductor.  I guess it comes naturally that I almost always understand what the conductor or composer wants, but I feel sorry for those of the orchestra that don't know what Emperor Ludwig wants.  Usually, he is very good, but when he's in something of a snit, he becomes impatient when some measure is not performed perfectly."

            "Sometimes," said Beethoven, "some small imperfection in a practice session can show a composer how something can be made better."

            "I see."  Ludwig came back.

            "The chorus is coming," said Ludwig.  He indicated part of the hall to the left.  "They will be over there."

            "Very well," said Beethoven.  "Thank you very much."

            "You are most welcome.  I must thank you for letting me listen to your practice session."

            "No problem."

            * * *

            Lake Hylia, Hyrule, VideoLand, Milky Way Galaxy.

            Kevin and Princess Lana arrived by warp.  The lake was always beautiful, but not so beautiful as when sunlight from the west hit it.  "Oh, Kevin, this place is so beautiful," Lana said.

            "Yes, it is," replied Kevin.  "Lana, I love you."  He stated it solemnly.

            "I love you, too, Kevin," she replied.  "I know there's no way I can love anyone else like this.  I can't imagine myself with anyone else."  The two kissed briefly.  "We've grown a lot since that time a thousand years ago, when we were here."

            "That was stupid of us, not to be on guard."

            "Indeed it was.  Let's not blame each other or ourselves.  It wasn't our fault.  We just got caught up. . ."

            "Yeah.  Caught up trying to make love."

            "Kind of silly, huh?"

            "Uh huh.  I'm kind of glad we were made to wait, though.  Since we got to spend so much time together, I know you a lot better now than I did then.  It wasn't right then."

            "No.  But it's right now."

            "Do you think so?  Is it traditional for the princess of VideoLand to make love with the man she'll marry before she marries him?"  It was meant jokingly.

            Lana smiled.  "It all depends on whether we both think it's all right.  In VideoLand, making love is not seen as something that must absolutely be done during marriage, so long as it is only done with one person during the shorter-lived partner's life.  You might call it a permanent engagement."  She began rubbing his chest.  "It is also not something to be done merely for the physical pleasure, as far as I'm concerned.  The emotion must also be felt.  I love you like that, Kevin.  The way it makes your body feel is so special that it should only be performed with one person.  Or so I was reared to believe."

            "Yes.  My parents raised me to believe that."  The two began kissing.

            * * *

            Meanwhile, Link and Zelda were walking through Kakariko Village.  "I think that Cerebraguillaume awoke something in my people," said Zelda.  "My fair kingdom is suffering from the abhorrent taxation of that despicable fiend."

            "Yeah," replied Link.  "I hate it.  What are we going to do about it?"

            "Unfortunately, I don't know.  I must think of something."

            "We have to."

            "Yeah.  We.  You and I.  Link, I behave like a total jerk around you.  How can you stand it?"

            "Because I love you."

            "Yeah.  I know it."

            "Zelda Harkinian, I love you," Link stated solemnly.  She looked him in the eye.

            "I love you as well, Link Chance," said Zelda, using his last name, which he almost never used.  She meant it with all her heart.

            "And not that silly puppy-love business anymore, either.  I know how silly it is to beg that you kiss me."

            "Well, good."  She kissed him.

            "What was that for?"

            "For being you.  Link, I've known you for a millennium.  You're really a very sweet guy.  I, on the other hand, am a real jerk-ette."

            "Now, Zelda. . ."

            "It's true!  The first time I became attracted to you in this manner was when I heard you play the piano in the castle entryhall.  Then I began to know your puppy-love feeling.  I felt like I wanted to do it right then and there."

            "Do wha-. . .?  Oh.  I see."  He smiled.  "If you had told me, I'd have knocked you off that piano bench and called you crazy."

            She smiled.  "Good.  I'd have deserved it."

            "Don't be hard on yourself.  I was a jerk, too."

            "So, we were both jerks."  They both were amused.  "Now that we've gotten to know each other better, I can see that we are more alike than we thought."

            "Me, too.  Hang on.  Zelda, I have an idea!  The kind Wilykit told us to brew up!"

            "Good!  Let's go find Captain N."  She tapped her communicator; Ludwig had permitted them to use the N-Team shaped communicators once more and to use the transporters again.  "Computer, where is Captain N?"

            The computer replied, "Captain N is presently at Lake Hylia with Princess Lana."

            "Thank you.  Let's go, Link."  Hand-in-hand, they left for Lake Hylia.

            Kevin finished re-dressing by putting his coat on.  Lana had already finished.  They did not feel embarrassed; what they had just done was so special to both of them, and it was right.  Kevin said, "Lana, will we ever have a chance to get married?"

            "Once Ludwig and MotherBrain are out of my palace," Lana said.  "I won't wait long after that, though.  I noticed you like classical music."

            "I certainly do.  All I like about my generation's popular music is that it's easy to dance to.  Truth given, I wish I could dance to classics easily, but I never learned to.  Why do you think I play guitar in the orchestra?"

            "Then you could get acquainted with Ludwig van Beethoven."

            "That is my intention, Lana."

            "Maybe teach him a little Spanish."

            Kevin smiled.  He knew more than a little Spanish.  In fact, he came to know it so well that he became one of the foremost experts on the Spanish language.  He was thoroughly familiar with the three major dialects:  Castilian Spanish, or Spanish as spoken in Spain; Latin Spanish, or Spanish as spoken in South America; and VideoLandian Spanish, or Spanish as spoken in VideoLand.  All three were spread all across the universe.  "Yeah, sure.  And after that, you and I can have some more fun."

            Lana smiled.  "Oh, Kevin.  What am I going to do with you?"

            "Was it worth the time to put our clothes back on?"

            She laughed.  "I don't know.  We must exercise some control, Kevin.  I forgot my ovulation-control.  Two ova have been released."  She gasped.  "Oh, no!  Then. . ."

            Soothingly, Kevin said, "That's all right, Lana.  I remembered the sperm control.  Very little chance that anything was fertilised."

            Lana sighed gratefully.  "What a relief.  I'm so glad I can depend on you, Kevin."

            "I try to be dependable, Lana."

            "Kevin!" Link's voice called from the distance.  "Are we interrupting anything?"

            "Come on, Link!" Kevin called back.  Soon, Link and Zelda entered the area.  "Hello, Link and Zelda."

            "Hey, Kevin.  Is all well?"

            "Yes, all is well with us.  And with you?"

            "Yes, Kevin.  Listen.  Wilykit told us that you were to hear and consider the plans for attempting to overthrow Ludwig?"

            "You're correct, Link.  Do you have such a plan?"

            "Yeah!"

            "In my opinion," Zelda said, "it's a whopper."

            Wilytwins' Room, casa di Tygra, New Thundera, Milky Way Galaxy.

            "NO!!!" cried the Wilytwins.  As the hat reached the peak of its flight, the king clutched his heart in pain.  Apparently, he was having a heart attack.

            He fell to the floor.  Everyone ran to his attention, forgetting the hat.  "Help me!" rasped King Graham.  Valanice, Rosella, and Alexander helped Graham to his bed.  There, the royal physicians examined him.  Nothing could be done, nothing at all.  Utter despair claimed everyone.

            Princess Rosella especially.  She could not bear to be in there, witnessing the death of her father when she had so recently felt that she was going to die herself.  She ran from the room and wept at the base of the throne.  Wilykit, knowing that this was to be Rosella's adventure, left after her and brought along Wilykat.

            Out in the throne room, Rosella cried, "Poor father!  I wish there were something I could do!"  She knew no answer would come.  But an answer did come!

            "If you want to help your father," whispered a voice from Merlin's Mirror, "look into the Magic Mirror."

            And so it was that Rosella became acquainted with Genesta, Queen of the Fairies, by communicating through the Mirror.  In Genesta's homeland of Tamir, in the swamp to the east of the Impossible Mountains, there was a tree that bore a fruit once every hundred years.  If one ate the fruit, it would restore perfect health for many years.  Genesta offered to bring Rosella to Tamir.  Rosella sensed something was amiss, but Genesta's power was weakening, and she was barely powerful enough to transport Rosella, much less continue the communication.  If Rosella did not go at all, her father would die.  So, she had to go.

            * * *

            On the western beach where Rosella had been deposited by the magic transportation spell, she noticed three fairies approaching.  One was much larger than the others.  The beautiful Genesta landed in front of Rosella and welcomed her to Tamir.  She informed Rosella that her magic Talisman had been stolen from her neck yesterday by the Evil Fairy Lolotte.  If Genesta did not get the Talisman back in twenty-four hours, she would die.  She told Rosella that Lolotte would use the Talisman for evil.  Lolotte lived in a castle in the Impossible Mountains.  The Good Fairy revealed in more detail the location of the Magic Fruit.  The dark cavern that led to the swamp possessed a single inhabitant:  a fierce troll that would attempt to kill any who entered the cave.  The fairy then wished Rosella luck and departed.

            Through a series of sub-quests, the Wilytwins guided Rosella through Tamir.  The first task they accomplished was to get the Magic Fruit.  When they reached Lolotte's castle, Lolotte's flying monkeys greeted them and escorted them to their mistress's throne room.  There, Lolotte accused Rosella of being a spy of Genesta.  She had her monkeys 'escort' Rosella to a cell.

            Soon, Rosella received another audience with the ugly fairy.  Lolotte's 'son,' Edgar (who, as a later game would reveal, was not really her son at all), had taken a liking to Rosella and begged Lolotte to spare her.  So, Rosella was given a quest to prove she would be loyal to Lolotte.  She was to bring Lolotte the unicorn inhabiting the meadows of Tamir.  Guided by the Wilytwins, she did just that, taming the unicorn with love arrows from Cupid.

            However, Lolotte still did not believe Rosella and so sent her to get the hen that lays golden eggs from an ogre and his wife.  (Yike!)  Again she performed the task.  Again, Lolotte demanded a final item:  Pandora's Box.  Once opened, it would unleash untold evil upon the world.  The Wilytwins guided her through a witches' cave, a haunted house, and an Egyptian crypt (complete with a mummy, but fortunately not Mumm-ra) to get the box.  They passed the undead with a scarab that would repel any undead being, including mummies; the scarab was obtained from the witches at their cave.

            Lolotte was satisfied, and she was going to give Rosella a reward.  However, the reward was not her freedom; Rosella was to wed Edgar in the morning!  By a silent journey through the castle from where Rosella had been locked in (Edgar secretly gave her a key, though, so she could escape from the room), Rosella arrived at Lolotte's chamber.  The evil fairy still sleeping, Rosella shot her with one of Cupid's arrows.  The love killed the evil one, whose wicked heart could not withstand even an ounce of love.  She screamed with agony and expired.  Rosella took the Talisman.  Edgar informed Rosella that she was free to move around the castle, but he blushed before he got too far.

            Releasing the unicorn, taking the hen, and returning Pandora's Box to the crypt, Rosella went to Genesta's Island to the west of the shore of Tamir.  She revived the dying fairy with the Talisman.  The hen was Genesta's.  Before returning Rosella to Daventry, though, the fairy showed another person deserving a reward.  Edgar appeared, and Genesta transformed him from a twisted, ugly little man into a form befitting his heart. . . an extremely handsome young man.  Rosella fell in love with him immediately, but when he asked her to marry him, she said she could not marry him yet.  Genesta returned Rosella to Castle Daventry, and Rosella gave the Magic Fruit to her father, who regained his health after eating it.  She recounted her adventure to her excited family.  The Wilytwins decided to take a break from the adventure and take up King's Quest V at a later time.
